Screen Sharing Installation
Install the new version and important information
If you want to share your screen with other participants, Via will prompt you to start the extension (plugin) ViaScreenSharing.
Two options are available to share your screen:
1. Application mode installer (recommended)
Install screen sharing in this mode to start it as an external application from the standard functions of the collaboration tool. In this mode, the URL is associated with the application directly into the operating system, which means that all installed browsers will support this mode.
Supported systems:
- Windows (XP and +)
- MacOS X (10.8 and +)
- Linux (Kernel 2.6.16 and +, glibc 2.4 and +, NPTL 2.4 and +, X11)
Supported browsers:
All browsers are supported.
On Windows, the installer also includes an ActiveX version for Internet Explorer. With this version, you use the sharing without using Java or the external application.
2. Without installation using the Java version (requires Java 1.6+)
Supported systems:
- Windows (XP and +)
- MacOS X (10.5 and +)
- Linux
Supported browsers:
All browsers are supported.
If Java is up to date and available on your workstation, screen sharing will be downloaded automatically. However, you must agree to run the application. We recommend that you check the “Do not show this message for applications from this publisher…”.
